OCR Schools & Universities

An inclusive, high-impact fitness initiative for students across the UAE & KSA

The OCR School & University Championships are large-scale, government-supported Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) events designed to promote fitness, resilience, teamwork and wellbeing among young people across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

School Championships:

We’re proud to partner with the Ministry of Sport UAE, the UAE Schools & University Sports Federation, the UAE School Games team and the Saudi Sports For All Federation – alongside various governmental education authorities – to deliver this pioneering youth-focused program.

Who It’s For:
Open to all students aged 5–19, the School Championship is divided into Primary and Secondary categories:

  • Primary Category (Ages 5–12)
A non-competitive, untimed 1k obstacle course designed to encourage movement, fun and participation. It’s all about enjoyment, teamwork and crossing the finish line with a smile!
  • Secondary Category (Ages 13+)
A timed 5k OCR race using individual timing chips. While students race together, we collect and sort results post-event, awarding winners in categories from U14 to U19 (male and female).
  • Grand Finale Invitation
The top 3 male and female students at selected events will receive exclusive invites to our end-of-year Grand Finale, bringing together the best young OCR athletes from across the country.

Inclusive by Design:

While some students may aim for the podium, others simply want to finish alongside friends – and that’s a victory in itself. Our course is built for all fitness levels.

University Championship:

University students take on a timed 5k Obstacle Course Race, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport UAE, the UAE School & university Sports Federation, the UAE University Games team, the Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) and partnering educational institutions.

  • Each student is provided with a timing chip, allowing for official rankings and personal bests. The race features a mix of functional fitness challenges and classic OCR obstacles – testing speed, endurance, agility and teamwork.
  • Whether students are aiming to represent their university with pride, challenge themselves individually or simply enjoy the camaraderie of a large-scale community event, the Championship delivers a high-energy, inclusive experience.
  • Grand Finale Invitation: At selected events, the top 5 male and female university students will earn their place at the Grand Finale, where they’ll compete for national recognition and celebrate the spirit of student sport.

2025/26 Locations:

Events will be held across key cities in the UAE and KSA. If you’re interested in getting your school or university involved, feel free to reach out directly to Paul Downes at paul@cab-sports.com.

We also offer a dedicated ASA (After School Activity) program for Primary School students. This initiative is completely free, with ready-to-use lesson plans provided to teachers – making it easy for schools to promote fun, functional fitness throughout the year.
